The Priory CofE Primary School

OUTDOOR LEARNING

At The Priory, we encourage and promote outdoor learning. We recognise that learning outdoors can be so productive and so much fun too! We make regular use of our wonderful outdoor areas, including our award-winning wildlife garden, large, spacious field, football pitch, basketball court, trim trail, climbing frame and quiet garden.

We have a very creative curriculum and encourage the opportunity to use these areas for learning at every opportunity. Where possible, all subjects of the curriculum, have planned opportunities to learn outdoors. Our wildlife garden provides the children with the opportunity to plant, grow and look after a range of vegetables. They then harvest them and sell them, in order to raise money for the maintenance of planned ECO work and our new ECO ventures.  We are currently in the process of planning a woodlands area for a section of our spacious field.

We look forward to developing this area to provide further opportunities for outdoor learning and activities such as bushcraft and storytelling activities. Please see the plan below.

AWARD-WINNING WILDLIFE GARDEN

Our previous nursery teacher, Mrs Lucy Vallejo, has worked really hard on keeping our award-winning wildlife garden looking beautiful.

Here is a short video to show you the wonderful flowers, in The Priory colours.

For those of you that might like to play 'Flower Detectives' ...

Can you match the names to the flowers?
